The U.S House of representatives has approved further $40 billion aid for Ukraine.
The bill was approved by 368 votes to 57. The funds will be used for military, economic and humanitarian needs, help regional allies, replenish weapons the Pentagon has shipped overseas and provide $ 5 billion to address global food shortages caused by the war's crippling of Ukraine's normally robust production of many crops.
The measure was backed by every voting Democrat and by nearly three out of four Republicans. House debate reflected a perspective, shared broadly by both parties, that there is more at stake than simply standing by Ukraine.
