  • Rs 500 fine for those people who don’t segregate waste

    Kathmandu,

    June23,

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has decided to take action against those people who don’t segregate waste from July 17.

KMC has issued a notice saying that it will impose a fine of Rs 500 on those who do not segregate their waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories.

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has promised to the locals of Sisdol and Bancherdanda who are affected by the waste produced by Kathmandu people that the waste will be segregated into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories from July 17.

The KMC believes that if waste is managed by the people who produce it, the city will not have a waste problem.

Locals of Kakani and Dhunibesi have agreed to let dump the waste only till mid-July in the current style. However, they have warned that if the waste is not segregated into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories from July 17 onwards and taken to the landfill site in the current style, they will obstruct the trucks entering into the area .
