CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that, in the upcoming state and parliamentary elections, people will make his party win more seats than any other party. Talking to media persons at Biratnagar Airport today, he said that the people would make his party first in the parliamentary elections as the UML was committed to protect federalism and democracy and also played an important role in the constitution-drafting process.

Oli, who is also a former prime minister, said that CPN-U (Socialist) cadres would be included in the UML if they desire to join the party. He said, he had not given any assurance to other party leaders to become the prime minister. He said that the local body elections would not determine the status of all the elections, adding that the party came second in terms of number of seats but first in terms of popular vote.
