After their epic 9-0 victory over Bournemouth last weekend, the Reds faced a much tougher opponent in Newcastle United who went into the match unbeaten.

Eddie Howe’s men took the lead in the first half at Anfield through club record signing Alexander Isak, who finished tidily after being put through on goal by a marvellous pass from Sean Longstaff.

And Eddie Howe's men still looked good value for at least a point even after Roberto Firmino side footed home just past the hour mark, with that blow being followed by some impressive defending.

It looked like more dropped points for Jurgen Klopp's side as the game ticked into stoppage time, but a late corner caused a goalmouth scramble, which ended in Carvalho scoring for the second time in a week.
