Director General of the Department of National Identity Card and Registration Tirtha Raj Bhattarai has said that the collection of details of National Identity Card is being done nationwide.

In wards of 33 districts, the data collection has been completed by deploying teams and is now underway in 13 districts, said Director General Bhattarai.

According to Bhattarai, the work will be completed in four more districts this fiscal year. Talking to journalist Rishi Dhamala on Nepali Debate on Nepali Radio Network, Director General Bhattarai said that personal and biological details of 7.5 million people have been received so far. The department is now going to every ward of each district and collecting details.

Stating that the congestion can be reduced by going to the administration in theirs own time, Director General Bhattarai said that various efforts are being made to manage it.

He said, "We have to understand the concept why the national identity card had to be brought." From the year 2066/67, the national identity card should be brought, where the personal details of any person should be kept. If biography data and biometric data is available, the correct identity of the person is obtained. It has been developed in such a way that it is easy to confirm the authenticity of a person, whether he/she has a criminal activity or not. ’

He said that the national identity card of all the citizens above 16 years of age can be made immediately and can be made later if it is not needed immediately. He also urged the people not to make rush since the corona infection has not been completely eradicated yet.
